cf New Scientist article (26th April 2001) concerning fair ground rides (esp. waltzers) which move chaotically, but the designers must be careful of resonance. Cf also dips in roads, resonance frequencies. Resonance is thus, in a sense, metaphor for metaphor itself, that is, when an idea resonates into different areas????
Music provides many sorts of resonance, both literal and metaphorical...
One could say that music expresses itself through resonances - where those resonances can be cultural, emotional or explicitly and abstractly musical. 'The power of cheap music' comes from the wide application of easily accessible and interpretable musical resonances.
